Why businesses choose a Louisiana virtual number
A local Louisiana number builds trust before the call connects — and keeps costs at zero.
Higher pickup rates in LA
Louisiana residents and businesses are significantly more likely to answer calls from a local area code than out-of-state or toll-free numbers. A local number is the first step to getting the call connected.
Louisiana, by the numbers.
Louisiana began the 1947 numbering plan as a single area code, 504, covering the entire state.
The first split came in 1957, when 318 took over nearly all of the state west of the Mississippi River, up to the Arkansas border.
In 1998, 225 broke away from 504 to serve Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. In 1999, 337 split from 318 to cover Lafayette, Lake Charles, and southwestern Louisiana.
The last split came in 2001: 985 broke from 504 to serve Slidell, Houma, and Thibodaux, leaving 504 mainly to New Orleans.
Area code 504 has shrunk from covering the entire state of Louisiana in 1947 to just Orleans Parish and its close suburbs today, after giving up territory across three separate splits.
